Suzanne Ryan

C.E.O, Executive Producer



Suzanne is the Founder, CEO and Executive Producer of SLR Productions, established in 2002, which is one of Australia’s leading Emmy and multi award winning children’s entertainment companies, specialising in the creative development and production of world-class media content.


With more than 30 years experience in the television business, Suzanne is an Emmy Award winning producer, winner of the Premier’s NSW Export Awards in Creative Industries, a twice recipient Screen Producers Australia – Children’s Producer of the Year, and the 2014 Winner B&T Women in Media Producer of the Year.  Suzanne was a Screen Producers Australia board member for three years leading the Animation & New Media Division. She is listed consecutively in the ‘Who’s Who of Australian Women’ annual edition.


Suzanne has financed and executive produced more than 160 hours of children’s content sold to over 165 countries including successful brands such as Guess How Much I Love You – The Adventures of Little Nutbrown Hare,  The Skinner Boys – Guardians of the Lost Secrets; Lexi and Lottie – Trusty Twin DetectivesCaptain Flinn & The Pirate Dinosaurs; Sam Fox –Extreme Adventures and I Got a Rocket.

Helen Thwaites

Business Affairs




Helen has more than 30 years of experience in the film and television industry. Most recently she held the position of Business Affairs Manager, Commissioned Content (specializing in children’s content) at the ABC for a period of seven years. Prior to that, she spent four years in the role of Head of Acquisitions at the national broadcaster. Before joining the ABC, Helen was with Southern Star where she held a number of positions including General Manager – Southern Star Primetime, Head of Film Sales – Southern Star Film Sales, Head of Acquisitions and Head of Television Distribution – Southern Star Sales.  In her position at SLR Productions, Helen is the Head of Business Affairs and is responsible for the business management of SLR’s current and future slate of productions.

Jo Boag

Creative Director




Jo has been with SLR Productions for 13 years and is in charge of developing and overseeing the creative direction of productions.  Jo works as the creative brand manager supervising more than 130 hours of content. Jo is an Emmy Award winning Creative Director and ADG nominated for best animation Project. Jo was also the  2014 B&T Women in Media Creative of the Year winner.  In her executive role she works with original creators, writers, directors, actors, artists, broadcasters, distributors and publishers.


Jo has overseen successful international brands such as the award winning Specials for the – Guess How Much I Love you- The Adventures of Little Nutbrown Hare, Christmas to the Moon and Back and An Enchanting Easter,  the original Lexi and Lottie- Trusty Twin Detectives, the adapted UK picture books Captain Flinn and The Pirate Dinosaurs, the acclaimed classic preschool property, Guess How Much I Love You, the animated adventure comedy series The Skinner Boys – Guardians of the Lost Secrets and the Emmy Award winning animated series I Got a Rocket™.


Jo has worked in the media industry for more than 20-years.  She began her career as an Animator and moved on to designing and directing animation for television and advertising. In 2001, Jo co-created, designed and directed Gloria’s House a 26 x half hour animated series which screened globally.




Yasmin Jones

Head of Production




Yasmin has been with SLR for eleven years and is the Line Producer and Producer on all major company shows. In her time with SLR Productions, she has worked on hit television shows including Space Nova, Berry Bees, Lexi & Lottie – Trusty Twin Detectives, Captain Flinn and The Pirate Dinosaurs, Guess How Much I Love You™, The Skinner Boys – Guardians of the Lost Secrets, Dex Hamilton: Alien Entomologist, Gasp!, Teenage Fairytale Dropouts and The Davincibles. 

Yasmin started her career in animation as a Production Assistant for Yoram Gross and became Head of Production during her 10-year tenure.  Yasmin was a Producer at Brilliant Interactive Ideas working on 3D animated episodes for Xena: Warrior Princess, Kiss: Immortals, Ace Ventura, Popeye and Superman as well as managing the company’s motion capture studio and assisted in the establishment of their Singapore division.

Yasmin is the author of The Animation Producer’s Handbook, published by Allen and Unwin in 2006.


Melanie Alexander

Head of Development



Melanie is a multi award winning screenwriter and has been at SLR for nine years where she is in charge of writing and development on productions.

Melanie has been the Script Producer and Editor of successful SLR brands such as the newly adapted UK picture books Captain Flinn and The Pirate Dinosaurs, the acclaimed classic preschool property, Guess How Much I Love You™, the animated adventure comedy series The Skinner Boys – Guardians of the Lost Secrets, Lexi and Lottie – Trusty Twin Detectives and the international animated series Teenage Fairytale Dropouts. 

Melanie has been in the industry for 18 years and teaches Writing for Children’s Television at the Australian Film, TV and Radio School.  She is a highly acclaimed children’s television writer for award winning series like Blinky Bill, Flipper & Lopaka, Tabaluga, CJ the DJ, Milly Molly, Dive Olly Dive, Play School, Bambaloo, Zigby, Penelope K By The Way, Sally Bollywood and Hoopla Doopla!

Her writing pedigree spans live-action, puppetry, animation, multimedia platforms and character costume plays.  Melanie has a background in teaching and spent 10 happy years teaching children ranging from 4 to 12 years, which has given her great insight into her target audience.


Sammy D

Office Mascot




Having joined SLR as the office mascot in 2009, Sammy D has quickly become a key member of the company.  Having proved himself as loving companion, security, prankster, best friend and greatest cuddler; there is no stopping his abilities or what he can do.  Now the face and voice (bark) of SLR’s animated company logo, Sammy strives to be the star of SLR’s next big show!

Also known as the muppet, poo bear, bubba boo and anything else cute, we are fast learning that this borderdoodle has talent!
